Re: Thinking of selling old records tapes.

If you've got factory made open reel classical from the '50's in decent looking shape, it will be worth money. I have two boxes of tapes mixed between DIY off air tapes of so-so TV shows (stop the bubble machine) with at least half commercial recordings (RCA). Titles range from Beethoven, to Belafo...

Re: Thinking of selling old records tapes.

Another old friend who has several open reel machines has expressed some interest but not to buy stuff just rescue it from the dumpster. I have a bunch of old pre-recorded RCA classical tapes (mono). Some decent performances but not modern s/n. Since these tapes are pretty old (50's) the condition i...

Re: Thinking of selling old records tapes.

There is a used cd/record store 25 miles away, so maybe I'll bring them there and see if there's any interest. I have no visions of making money, I just feel bad about throwing these all into the garbage. The old open reel will be a much smaller market. I suspect few of the new vinyl fans have 78rpm...

Re: Thinking of selling old records tapes.

I'm not even thinking about my personal pile of records and I inherited my sisters collection too..so some old beatles/stone/etc.

There's some old Arthur Godfrey blue (dirty) party records (40s-50s) and some unusual stuff like that...but probably 90% just old garbage.

Thinking of selling old records tapes.

I am trying to clean up my house and I have a couple boxes of my dads old open reel tapes and records circa 1950s. Some is 1950s version of popular music so probably of little value but there are a bunch of classical tapes. The records are likewise mostly of dubious value. Looking at ebay i saw some...

Re: Flat Phono Preamp Based on John's P10 and 2SK389

IIRC Deane Jensen would terminate transformers with RC to flatten out the response of the transformer...So may not be optimal for cartridge loading.

Re: Comparing the NJM2068 to the OPA2134 in the Flat Preamp

Great stuff Wayne :) Were you trying to say the OPA2134 sounded quieter though it measured slightly worse? This is entirely possible and I've used this phenomena to cheat ... I mean present figures which more truly reflect the excellent user experience with my designs :D . :ugeek: Back in the day I...

Re: Simple Audio Splitter with NE5534

And this brings me to another question: is 3.52v at the output too much for a pair of over the year headphones like the Sennheiser HD449? I just don't want to blow stuff up =). Thank you very much for your help as always! I could not find a power handling spec even from the mfr. Good Luck... JR

Re: Simple Audio Splitter with NE5534

Hello everyone, I am back with another question. I appreciate all your guidance! The short-circuit maximum current of NE5534 is 38mA (as per the datasheet). Can I assume that I can power 2 X NE5534 with an 80mA boost circuit? Not sure I understand the question. If you are asking can 2x5534 be power...

Re: Laying out a PCB

Thanks to this forum, I was able to draw up a schematic[1] for 3 way audio splitter using NE5534. Following Wayne's suggestion, I have been trying to manually lay the board out. And surprise surprise it has been pretty difficult. Some rules I thought I would stick to: - One layer board. Apparently ...
