Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents

You might be able to crank the idle current down on all of them. I chose 250 mA so that it could drive 32R loads with 0R build-out at very high level. So depending on the sensitivity and impedance of the phones and whether or not you're using a build-out resistor (not required but good for short-cir...

Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents

Hi - Glad you got the bias adjusted. Regarding the pot - I'm also using a dual cheap Alps 10K log and aren't having any issues. I'm wondering if it's possible that you have the wiper and top track connections reversed: In that configuration when the pot was taken to "0" the output of the T...

Re: A Direct-Coupled Input-Capacitorless Active Mic Preamp

A quick update to this project... I've now paired a THAT5173 gain controller to the 1570's flying rails. The 5173's 3V3 supply also flies and is derived from the flying positive rail. With the 5173 the gain range is 0 dB to +60 or 10 dB to +70. The 5173's SPI lines are opto-isolated from the grounde...

Re: A Variable Width Circuit for The Precision MS Matrix

could You tell me what is the difference between using xfader and using compressor gain output in individual MS channel?
None really. Using the comp gain does the same thing.

In terms of switching the Pico into feed-back mode that would be a question for Roger Foote.

Re: DIY LED Strobe.

I still think you need to play with a laser diode or laser line generator. My 2 cents.

Re: Mid Side M-S Matrix Construction Information

it his mean that I can leave the cold floating with lower noise.....? No, by grounding the cold you reduce the noise. Floating the cold to provide an unbalanced output will increase the wideband noise floor from -100 dBu typical to -60 dbu. Grounding the cold will also restore the gain of the 1646 ...

Re: Mid Side M-S Matrix Construction Information

Stereo Mode: B to comp & G from comp? M/S Mode: D to comp & E from comp? Yes and yes. and for point D & E just connect permanently the cold with ground in the board for unbalanced use? Any modification parts value if using unbalance? Correct. No mods just make sure the "cold" ...

Re: Mid Side M-S Matrix Construction Information

The THAT1646 can drive the transformer primary tapped to 600R to +27 dBu without any problems. I've never tried a single 1646 driving 150 Ohms at full level but have paralleled them to get the additional current. This thread discusses transformer driving using the THAT1646: http://www.proaudiodesign...
