Re: Level Detectors, Absolute Value, Peak and RMS

This one shows how to select positive, negative, or full-wave peaks: http://www.edn.com/article/CA6339250.html?spacedesc=DesignIdeas&taxid=10543&industryid=44217 And from the reference, a neat envelope follower technique (scroll down to 2nd article): http://www.edn.com/contents/images/122602...

Re: Analog meter driver...

Thanks for the ideas, Wayne!

Oh, did I mention I have a single 60V rail to work with? :P

Re: Analog meter driver...

Thanks, it might work nicely. I'll find the Neve ones to post too.

What's with dropping the V- rail? Is it only because of the 30v Vceo of the BC184?..

Re: Analog meter driver...

Oh I don't know what I want, as usual. In gerneral, I was thinking a ppm would be more useful for a preamp output than a vu; especially driving DAWs. I have a couple circuits borrowed from Neve for ideas. These will give, more or less, the standard BBC scale/ballisitics. (I wonder if they are...

Re: Analog meter driver...

Yikes, I think the 20db or so before clipping would be enough for my needs - with maybe a separate led "signal present/clip" circuit on the front end. Seems like too high-performance part for this task, but the price is right...

Analog meter driver...

I need an analog meter driver for a preamp project. Meter is a linear 1ma FS unit. I was thinking of a simple peak meter driver using the 2252, something along the lines of That design note 101: http://www.thatcorp.com/datashts/dn101.pdf The threshold control would adjust the lower scale reading, an...

Re: Dynamic Equalizer

Yeah, I see what your saying about the semantics. And thanks for the filter details, the one I worked out in my idiot-sevant style indeed works that way. Anything past first order does tend to comb when recombined, and adjustments are extremely interactive. I experimented a bit with a Linkquist-Rile...

Re: Dynamic Equalizer

Well, this is a multi-band dynamics processor, not a dynamic equalizer, right? I'm not sure of the band-splitter here; why do the 12 dB per octave upper and lower filters feed back into the 6db per octave middle filter before the processing? I need to mull that...Is this a trick I've been missing? M...
