Inserting Symbols and Special Characters In Posts
I decided it was time to stop typing "Ohms" unless we find that some browsers don't support it. Here's a list of special html characters: http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/ALTchrc-a.html Some special characters we use more often are: § Alt+21 @ Alt+64 ~ Alt+126 ß Alt+225 π Alt+227 Σ A...

Re: A Direct-Coupled Input-Capacitorless Active Mic Preamp
a freakin' Jensen made one cease to function. It actually broke it? Have to wonder if the Earhtworks doesn't like the low DC termination resistance (between tip and ring) of a transformer primary. For the DC preamp the DC termination resistance is fairly high as it would be in an active preamp. My ...

Re: Hybrid race cars
When there is a complete power outage the gas stations don't pump gas either True, but so what? A minor inconvenience... With an ICE I have a lot more energy stored: A 350-400 mile range vs. 40. So I have enough energy stored to drive to Lowes to buy plywood, the store to get pork-n-beans and get t...

Re: Hybrid race cars
Wow, flywheels. Can we use the gyroscopic properties of that flywheel to stablize it? Toyota, used capacitors... neither used batteries... go figure Pit stop time? I bet all those people with electric cars in Maryland and Washington DC (without power) are hitching rides with their neighbors driving ...

Re: Feedforward / look-ahead compressor
hazmo - The EMT266 Transient Limiter schematics were very interesting particularly the all-pass stages. Why not do the all-pass as it's shown using modern op amps? This also caught my eye: http://www.ka-electronics.com/images/jpg/Greater_of_Four_Detector.JPG EMT 266 Transient Limiter Rectifier Block...

Re: Feedforward / look-ahead compressor
So their budgets are $0.I get requests form software companies who want me to pass some impulses through my various vintage compressors, in exchange for copies of the software they develop.
'delete'.....

Re: A Direct-Coupled Input-Capacitorless Active Mic Preamp
Yeah, you have to ignore the extreme cases. Both in terms of microphones and the people who use them. ;) This is exciting to see develop. Thanks. It's exciting to do. (Again, finally.) I knew the Earthworks pulled 10 mA (5 mA/leg) and I think it clocks in at one of the all-time highest followed by ...

Re: A Direct-Coupled Input-Capacitorless Active Mic Preamp
...if it is tied into and knows the gain control it can learn a DC offset curve vs, gain so it remembers history and can predict a nominal starting point for faster settling for every gain setting, and update that history on the fly. That's key. But, I'm not sure it's worth the effort just to repla...

Re: A Direct-Coupled Input-Capacitorless Active Mic Preamp
I do miss Brad too and still occasionally exchange e-mail. I sometimes see posts on the EET Times/EDN forums from him but not often. I rather like this investigation into improved servos. Thanks. I did try putting a passive pole on the output but it seemed to prefer a first-order response. I can't s...

Re: Feedforward / look-ahead compressor
Some like the combination of luminescent panel with photo-resistor sound very good despite the simplicity of the approach And how many coders - or cloners for that matter - understand the complex interaction of the blue/green (and more blue with increasing frequency) output of the luminescent panel...
