Welcome to the Land of the Free and Sub $2 Gasoline

Relax in southern comfort on the east bank of the Mississippi. You're just around the corner from Beale Street and Sun Records. Watch the ducks, throw back a few and tell us what's on your mind.

We buy our gas here by the gallon using dollars.

That would be 0.46 euros per litre...

I saw $1.99 several places in Virginia yesterday. It was $2.07 a half mile from I-95, and all the stations directly off the I-95 exit were $2.79. Capitalism at work!

This station was right off I-20, which for our international readers is a major East-West highway.

Considering that it was an Exxon, and so close to '20, I was surprised to see the first sub-$2 there.

As I used to say when I lived in Chicago 'gas is the same price in US or UK, just you get a gallon, we only get a litre'. I think it was $1.20 ish most of the time I was filling up.

Enjoy this while it lasts...

We need more pipeline infrastructure to get NG out of oil rich regions, we literally have so much they can't sell it profitably. Since government clamps down on flaring it (burning it off) some drillers have to pay to get free NG carried away.

I have been watching the Iran oil sanctions. The US has issued a bunch of waivers allowing Iran's customers to keep buying Iranian oil. If they strictly enforced the sanctions that would sop up some of the copious supply.

Cheap energy is a good thing, but maybe not this cheap.

Tesla had thousands of EV built up to satisfy the rush before fat government tax subsidies expire this year... Waiting to hear if he has to hold a january white sale?

I'll be enjoying the low-cost natural gas too.
I'm paying about 8.4 cents/kWh for power.

There is speculation that POTUS is trying to get China to invest in building LNG terminals so we can sell them NG at below world market prices. I would love to see us wean EU off Russian NG as a win-win for both of us.
