I found this 1982 EDN article written by Andy Rappaport.

Just found and re-read this 1998 Wall Street Journal article about some guy by the name of Mark Cuban who was distributing audio over the internet.

Wonder what happened to Mark?

I think I saw Mark speak at a conference in 2003, and if it was him, his method made sense. Seemed like the powers that be would be against it.
