I looked at the LED landscape light I disassembled and the part number was the QX5252.

That looks vaguely like mine, but I don't recall seeing an inductor and mine charges the battery using an external diode.
The low voltage turn off looks like similar logic (low voltage is off) but mine has an internal pull up, that one looks like a high z input. I turn mine off with an open collector, stock it used a LDR to ground.
I thought mine was using a cap as a charge pump, but not sure there is enough voltage for that.
I guess if I really cared I would trace out the complete circuit. My guess it was using something like a 555 timer, but there are some charge pump voltage regulators it might be based on.
