New edition of Handbook for Sound Engineers any time soon?

New edition of Handbook for Sound Engineers any time soon?

Post by AnalogJoe »

Hey,

I wanted to update my HFSE with the last edition. I noticed that you Wayne co-wrote a chapter, so I was wondering if you have any idea when/if a new edition will come out at any time soon. The book is not cheap by all means, and the last version is from almost a decade ago, so I wouldn't want to buy it just to find out that the 6th edition is coming out on May of this year or something like that. Glen Ballou is perhaps a bit too old by now, buy maybe someone else took over?

Anyway, any "inside" info on this, Wayne?

Thanks. I get the feeling Glen is no longer editing it, he is (I believe) around 90 years old by now; but who knows, probably someone else took over.

I noticed that the 3rd edition was published in 2002, the 4th in 2008, and the 5th in 2015; so looking at the pattern between each year of publication, I reached the conclusion that a possible 6th edition is already overdue or about to come out. That is, of course, assuming there are any plans on publishing a 6th edition...
