Re: DAC output help
I've lost track of what exactly your schematic looks like these days. If the the parts that failed were operated the old way for a while before the last round of improvements, they may have been damaged then and just took a while to fail.

Re: OTB Mixer Using Current Summation
Simple answer I don't know. It seems it would depend on lots of stuff. A bus in a console that is 6' long should be expected to have more than one 6" long. FWIW I never really intended for the MFB 2 pole LPF to be a practical band limit filter, but more a way to manage the stray capacitance ben...

Re: Barrie Gilbert's Home Lab
Yup, a little too neat... I saw a recent thread on another forum where Jim Williams bench was put on display in some museum. He seems to follow in the RAP mold of orderly mind, messy bench. It seems in the business world, managers believe mandating clean desks means everything is in order (it's not)...

Re: Baxandall & Self @ Linear Audio
Nobody knows everything... but logic and scientific method will generally keep us from making huge mistakes. One comment from Baxandall that endeared him to me, was his dismissing the Otolla TIM,SID, yadda yadda crowd for reinventing already known rate of change issues associated with NFB circuitry ...

Re: Baxandall & Self @ Linear Audio
Well now I know what to ask Santa for... while I'm not sure I'd pay 22 Euros myself to read some letters. Peter Baxandall is indeed the real deal. I recall an interview of him in TAA a few decades ago and just from that conversation it was clear he was solid as rock regarding how electrons actually ...

Re: Let's Discuss Servos (Previously OPA188 Thread)
Those were in the original soundfiles so I have no clue. Rarely do I see these types of artifacts. The lower example with the bowing in the right channel is so LF that it makes me think it entered the production chain near the end. When I saw both of them I thought servos? If the even-order harmoni...

Re: Let's Discuss Servos (Previously OPA188 Thread)
But summing to unity is not a concern for a single HPF. I think I looked into making a variant of derived where a state variable topology only had a HP and LP output closing the NFB loops, I forget why exactly I abandoned it, it didn't look that promising to me for high orders (back in the '80s) and...

Re: Let's Discuss Servos (Previously OPA188 Thread)
Yup, and the phase response is not going to be very filter like, again 1- the other pass. I suspect a usable filter can be made, but I never tried and am not inclined to. By the time we throw a servo at an audio path, we are by definition not trying to save parts, and concerned about sonic performan...
