Re: Entropy

I have started using a fuel additive called STAR TRON... it is not cheap and I am generally dismissive of such snake oil, but my small engine mechanic swears vehemently that the stuff works. I'll know better after a few years but, yes ethanol sucks... and the pukes in washington want to increase it ...

Re: Entropy

Doesn't it feel good, keeping the plates spinning on their sticks until the next one falls.

Re: Entropy

Someone hit my old car 2 years ago, their insurance wanted to pay me $200 and total the car. This points out what a sham insurance is, at the low end. I'm sure it works great for those who keep a new car, and pay the high insurance. I've had mixed experience with car insurance. When I totaled my st...

Re: Entropy

Need a new lawnmower, the old deck has rusted through and is falling apart. When I first moved down south from CT in the mid '80s I took my yankee lawnmower down with me... It was too small to cut serious grass, but I used it for trim. It was rusting apart, and so wimpy it would stall out every two...

Re: Entropy

Am I the only one surrounded by decay and deterioration? Maybe I'm the only one talking about it. Last night i fixed my coffee grinder. It was not a cheap one (a burr grinder for better coffee consistency), about $150 and not even 2 years old. It chewed up a drive gear, and I was pleasantly surprise...

Re: Residential Lighting with LEDs: Retrofitting the Pink Ra

Well I finally popped my cherry and bought my first LED lamp.. a 9W GE rated to replace 40W IC bulb. I first tried in my living room area lamp that I read under... My first impression was not much light but that was last night and I didn't give it much of a trial before pulling it back out. Today I ...

Re: microphone problem in a small enclosure

If this is pressed against the face does it make a sealed enclosure or is it vented to the air? I wonder if the person is pressurizing it? Not that I know how that would effect the mic, shouldn't bother it if the back of the diaphragm is vented. Breath noise could saturate the mic with LF if closely...

Re: IFD: Removing Constraints of CMOS Bilateral Switches

That kind of steering goes on all the time inside ICs where you have a controlled environment coming and going.

Re: IFD: Removing Constraints of CMOS Bilateral Switches

When gated off, the input impedance switches from very high Z to some 10s of K to -V, not very friendly to the off signal path in real world use.

Whatever...

Re: IFD: Removing Constraints of CMOS Bilateral Switches

That diode gate will work, but probably click like mother when switching. I've done some similar crude diode steering variants for non audio paths (like inputs to a meter) that didn't have to switch quietly. I've used CMOS TG inside the feedback loop in big consoles with unmeasurable (back in the da...
