Re: 1510 -- servo, or not ?

Randy; The T-Bias scheme does allow the use of smaller values because of the higher CM impedance on the right-hand side of the caps. I wouldn't go much lower than 22 uF though which eliminates the use of film caps due to size. On the single-supply preamp non-polarized capacitors are required because...

Re: 1510 -- servo, or not ?

The drawing looks good Randy. Can the "pin2 to 3"..200pf cap be either a 220 or 180 ?? Yeah either one. I'm reminded of the movie "Mr. Mom" where Mr. Mom is asked "Are you rewiring for 220?" Mr. Mom answers "Yeah 220, 221." As you point out those 1R5 stop resi...

Re: 1510 -- servo, or not ?

The OP07 (or OP77) trimmed would be inexpensive. That's the option I've considered for the DC preamp. Either that or an LT1012.

Re: 1510 -- servo, or not ?

... with the 1510/1512. If you're going to be using this for instrumentation my recommendation would be to just use a Cgain and eliminate the output servo. I do recommend a stepped resistor gain control however for precise repeatability. I posted a spreadsheet to calculate gain resistors which can ...

... current-drive and pre-emphasized voltage drive. AKG, on their BX series, had a secondary feedback winding on their transducers, which was used to servo the movement on the driver. Since it depends on construction tolerances, it was adjustable, and like any servo system, when pushed over the proper ...

... filter. This should be tuned for several hundred kHz but needs to be bread boarded to confirm it doesn't scream... Bus should be cap coupled or servo'd if X VCAs introduce DC error. As feedback VCA is turned down, any DC error would be result in high DC gain. !00k (could be as low as 20k) drains ...

... build a psu for this project but for now it's running ok. I'll do some listening test later on to determine whether I like DC coupling caps or a servo cicuit. If I go for caps I'll check some different brands and bipolar ones as well. Would be nice to have them all mounted on a rotary and switching ...

... wedged into a common thermal heatsink to hopefully keep them at similar temp. JR PS: one of my early patents at PV was for a class A VCA with DC servo loop to avoid selecting parts or DC trims... Of course after DBX started selling VCAs inexpensively I just used that, because it was quieter/better ...
