Re: Tilt Equalizer
I guess I'm confusing matters by using the word tilt. I pictured the EQ I'm describing as each band having a knob for gain and for frequency select, like a normal EQ. When I was talking about the bandwidth of the shelf I was refering to 'slope' of the shelf. I don't like using the word slope with sh...

Re: Tilt Equalizer
I was just giving my idea for a fully featured "tilt like" EQ. I have lots of parametric bands at my disposal. I look at it as 'more than a tilt' not 'less than a full featured EQ'. The consoles at Bernie Grundman use a graphic EQ as the main EQ. I think it's a modified UREI.

Re: Tilt Equalizer
For the two low bands I'd want band one to be about 30hz to 250Hz and band two to be 200hz to 800hz. I would only need +/- 3dB but others would probably want more. Band one would be mostly for cutting. I think a medium narrow bandwidth for this. Band two would be the broad strokes band so this shoul...

Re: Tilt Equalizer
I have used tilt EQ in the side chain of noise gates where they were pretty effective at improving the selectivity of the gate helping key on or ignore frequency spectra. That sounds like an ideal application. I often do what a tilt EQ does but a tilt EQ is not flexible enough for daily use. I want...

Re: Flat Phono Preamp Based on John's P10 and 2SK389
Thanks for the detailed response Wayne. I think I didn't quite understand what was going on. Correct me if I'm wrong. The top 1240 is acting as the third opamp in an instrumentation amp. This third opamp provides the CMRR in an instrumentation amp. The second 1240 is a clever way to provide a balanc...

Re: Flat Phono Preamp Based on John's P10 and 2SK389
I have a couple of questions about the schematic. What is the advantage of using the instrumentation amp over the THAT microphone preamp IC? (My guess is source impedance). Why use the 1240's as line drivers and not a 1646?

Re: Flat Phono Preamp Based on John's P10 and 2SK389
I have to say this is pretty awesome. I've had what this is rolling around in my head for a long time. Some features that I think would be very useful in the base station would be isolated balanced +4dbu outs and consumer RCA outputs. A meter buffer and adjustable output gain. This may be outside th...

Yeah, WOW. Very Dali but more "in the style of" than plagiarism. That must have cost some money and had an executive patron. Nowdays they'd just buy a Koons.

I took a look around but couldn't find the NTP docs. When I run across them I;ll post them.
