Re: RIP Joe Neil

I am stunned! I first met Joe in Feb. 1978. He was chief engineer at Bob Richardsons studio, just off I75 in Atlanta. I was service mgr. for the MCI Nashville dealer & was there to tune the eq on the control room monitors. We hit it off right from the start. We rekindled our friendship 2 yrs. ag...

Re: TI Parts Going End of Life

Another TI part now listed by Mouser at end of life for the dip8 package, LME 49860. It will still be available in SOIC. Only problem is I do not want to go SMT as yet. It is the only one in the series to run on +- 22vdc.

Re: Limiters with optocouplers

Go online at Rolls Audio; look up the manual for the 422 field mixer. You will find a limiter implementation using vactrols & also low freq. cut on the output of their transformer less mike preamps.

Re: Voltage follower for high-pass

Hi Carlmart: The simplest way to get some low freq. roll off would be to have 2 values of coupling caps at the output of the 1510 mike pre; one to give flat response down to approx. 30 hz & another that rolls off the low end at 6db per octave starting the roll off at 150hz. This is the method us...

Re: M/S codec finished (pics)

Great looking chassis mount Holger, the green is a nice looking color.

The company I worked for used 8 pin Limo connectors on the camera controllers; very high quality machined connectors. We were paying $39.00 for them; their coaxial video connectors were $33.00 ea.

Re: 9 Volt Battery End of Life Voltage

The wireless systems I use for video production, use rechargable Lion's not alkaline based. That said fully charged 8.2-8.4 volts; minimum operating voltage 7 volts. They are rated 600mah's & run the receiver that draws 76 ma. for a good 8 1/2 hours.

Re: Heathkit is Back!

When I left as service manager of the Nashvile MCI dealer in early 78 to open my own studio equipment sales, service & design co.; most of my test equipment was Heaths laboratory series built from kits. The compliment consisted of 2 channel scope, 2 ac vtvm's, linear/log swept function generator...

Re: The Man Behind the (Ribbon) Mic

When I had my audio consultant/equipment sales & repair business in the 70's & early 80's, I was given a pair of 77DX ribbon mikes by the chief engineer of one of the studios who was a friend of mine. The basket on one looked as though someone had used it to drive nails with. Both mikes had ...
